National Educational Technology Standards for Students & Teachers

Here are the fundamental ICT (Information & Communication Technology) literacy standards for students and teachers. If you're not aware, the State of Colorado is incorporating these standards into ALL existing content standards as each content area standard is revised over the next couple years. All students and teachers will be responsible for these 21st century skills and it will not be exclusive to a technology class anymore. Notice that these standards are not technocentric, but rather…See More

I know that there are concerns about cross content in the technology class. I also know that if we just open up the class, that those of us teaching the class just end up running a study hall. I am attaching a flow chart for what a day in lit tech…

Kristi, I agree. We won't need to teach basic word processing at all three grade levels. However, the current pacing guide is reflective of our first year with literacy tech. Many of the objectives this first year will not be necessary in the…

I have a question about Standard 2 on the pacing guide. Since all students will have Computers for an entire year at 6th grade, i would assume that Basic Word Processing could/should be done then and that would prevent the need to take time with it…

I agree with Kyle that it looks good. I also agree with his suggestions. I also saw a couple of typos--on slide 3--#3, I think other should be others and on slide 11, it should be withdrawal.

If we go this route, it does a few things for us: 1) Since we have talked extensively about this in lit meetings, we know that regular lit teachers are willing to give up most of the computers in their rooms so that science, ss, and math can all…

I like the 7th grade tech plan. It does a great job of meeting the tech standards and supporting the learning in the literacy classes.

North Tech Standards

This site will be used to provide resources on what is possible for technology courses at North MS and to share ideas on what can be created.

The concept for the integrated technology courses is to have one year long course for students at North for each grade level. The end goal will be to develop and create students and teachers who are technology literacy and able to create their own "Personal Learning Network during the 3 years they are at North MS.

To start, please upload a "real" picture of you and post any information you want about yourself. Under resources you will find a collection of articles, web sites and videos ranging from Web. 2.0 to schools without textbooks. Please take some time to read the articles. If you have any you would like to share please add them or share on the forum.

Please use the Forum area of this site to post your ideas, additional resources, concerns or agreements! The Forum area will allow us to see each others thoughts and comments in one area.

Integrating Interactive Online Content

Integrating INteractive Online Content

Based on some of the things we talked about at the meeting (online community, responsibility socially, etc), this article/study seemed relavant. I got quite a bit out of how these communities can be formed and how they can help with learning and communication at the same time. Also, from what it said, it seems it was a good way to engage many students in school.
